Rome is an open-source, compounding agent OS for recursive agents: persistent apps and reusable workflows that build on each other. Describe an outcome, and Rome can build tools, save actions, retain context, and reuse capabilities from earlier tasks under your guidance.
There is an active community where you can share ideas and learn from others.
What is Rome App?
A Rome App combines a purpose-built interface, agent reasoning, reusable workflows, and persistent data. You can install apps for recurring work, such as:

Get trending news you like.
Stay on top of email
Filter your inbox and draft replies for you.
Analyze your stock
Analyze your stock portfolio and get daily updates.
Code Review
Review pull requests with your style and preferences.
There is a growing catalog of apps in the App Store for your daily use.
You can also build your own app with Rome and share it with the community.

When there isn't an app yet, you can have Rome build one for you. Because Rome can write and ship apps the same way it helps with everything else, it can grow to fit your life instead of asking you to fit yourself to it.
Rome can create, discover, and compose capabilities today. Persistent capability formation and recursive improvement are part of the vision and roadmap.

Yours, on your terms
Rome runs on your private machine (even the ones Rome hosts) and works for you alone — so it can be told things a shared assistant never could. It handles the routine on its own, and checks with you first before anything that really matters, like sending a sensitive message or spending money.
Open source and self-hosting
Rome is open source under the MIT license. You can inspect the source code and self-host with Docker, or use Rome Cloud.
