Connect WhatsApp

Use this page to connect Rome as a linked device for a WhatsApp account. Rome supports both QR code login and pairing code login.

Before you start

You need:

• WhatsApp installed and signed in on the phone whose number Rome should use.
• Access to Rome's web app as the guardian.

Connect with QR code

1. Open Rome and go to Settings.
2. Open Channel Connections.
3. Open the WhatsApp card.
4. Select the QR Code tab.
5. Click Start QR Login.
6. Wait for Rome to show a QR code.
7. On your phone, open WhatsApp.
8. Go to Settings then Linked Devices.
9. Tap Link a Device.
10. Scan the QR code shown in Rome.
11. Keep the Rome settings page open until it shows that WhatsApp is connected.

Connect with pairing code

Use this flow if you prefer entering a code on your phone instead of scanning a QR code.

1. Open Rome and go to Settings.
2. Open Channel Connections.
3. Open the WhatsApp card.
4. Select the Pairing Code tab.
5. Enter the WhatsApp phone number with country code and digits only. Do not use spaces, +, or other symbols. For example, enter 14155551234.
6. Click Connect.
7. Wait for Rome to show the pairing code.
8. On your phone, open WhatsApp.
9. Go to Settings then Linked Devices.
10. Tap Link a Device.
11. Choose Link with phone number instead.
12. Enter the pairing code shown in Rome.
13. Confirm on your phone and keep the Rome settings page open until it shows that WhatsApp is connected.

After connecting

Rome sends and receives messages as a linked device for that WhatsApp account. If the QR code or pairing session expires, start the flow again to generate a new QR code or pairing code.
